If you’re heading off on a Big Lap around Australia, or simply going away for a weekend trip, it is always handy to be able to make the most of your caravan space so that everything feels calm and organised.
That’s why we’ve teamed up with Erin Boyce from Your Organised Life, to provide you with her ultimate storage hacks. These handy tips will ensure you’re using the space in your van efficiently.
Packing cubes and hanging caddy organisers are your new best friend
Packing cubes are a great way to store clothes while travelling. They should be treated exactly like food containers – decant individual items into groups. This means you have one for bottoms, one for t-shirts and one for underwear, which prevents confusion when you put your garments away.
The best part? You can purchase them in different colours, so you can assign each family member with a different colour to keep things separate.
Another great product to use is caddy organisers. They are such an effective way for each person to have their own little nook for all their personal belongings, like books, iPads and chargers. These can then be hooked at the end of each person’s bed. It will also help avoid constant calls of ‘where is my phone charger!’
Make the most of hidden storage in your furniture
The best part about caravans is all of the hidden storage options. Most of the newer Jayco caravans come with under bed storage as standard, which is a handy way to store all the miscellaneous bits and pieces you need while on the road, like spare linen, towels, games and sporting equipment.
When it comes to keeping organised, storage tubs are the perfect option! Because they are clear, you can always tell what is inside. Plus, they are easy to stack so you can utilise a range of different sizes, depending on what you need to store and where you are keeping it.
Stack your fridge and freezer with Stasher Bags
Stasher Bags are clear, reusable, silicone pouches that are an absolute lifesaver when it comes to organising your fridge or freezer while camping. They are fridge, freezer, oven and microwave safe, and unlike typical takeaway containers or Tupperware, they don’t have any dead space, so you can fit more in the fridge or freezer.
You can also use empty Stasher Bags for beach trips – simply pop in your keys, phones and wallet and you’ll have a sand-proof pocket.
Be smart when it comes to bathroom storage
When it comes to bathroom storage, you have to think smart. While shower caddies are great while you are stationary, they tend to move around and spill when you’re on the road, so Erin recommends using a brand like Tooletries.
Tooletries create high quality, silicone bathroom storage options that stick to practically any surface. They weigh next to nothing and can easily be moved around if needed, but are still sticky enough that they won’t fall off the wall in the middle of the night. They are the perfect solution to store toothbrushes, toothpaste, sunscreen, loofahs, shampoos and conditioner.
